Perhaps you might want to ask yourself if you feel or are experiencing any of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of control, or inability to stay away from a substance or behaviour<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Decreased socialisation, like abandoning commitments or ignoring relationships, sense of letting others down<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignoring risk factors, like using in risky situations, using substances in ways you never thought you would<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Having any physical effects, like withdrawal symptoms or needing a higher dosage for effect<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using high amounts of your substance of choice at the weekends and really feeling the side effects during the week<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify yourself as a \u2018functioning addict\u2019 or often find yourself saying that you are \u2018in control\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\t\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"image-content-columns-block\">\n\n\t\n\t\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"columns is-mobile is-multiline\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"column is-12-mobile is-6-tablet\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"image\" data-aos=\"fade-right\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\" aria-label=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"image-overlay\" style=\"background-image:url('https:\/\/benkayetherapy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Calm-scaled54-e1765388075807-640x610.jpg')\" data-small=\"https:\/\/benkayetherapy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Calm-scaled54-e1765388075807-640x610.jpg\" data-medium=\"https:\/\/benkayetherapy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Calm-scaled54-e1765388075807-1024x977.jpg\" data-large=\"https:\/\/benkayetherapy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Calm-scaled54-e1765388075807-1200x1145.jpg\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"column is-12-mobile is-6-tablet\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"outer\" data-aos=\"fade-left\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"inner left\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These signs are commonly linked. The degree of intensity for each element may depend on how long the \u2018addiction\u2019 has been going on. Ideally we would all like to be able to identify any negative or destructive behaviour and make the changes necessary to keep ourselves safe, but we aren\u2019t all able to do this alone. For someone who is living with addiction, therapy and a listening ear can prove invaluable in reducing self-harm and safely taking control.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through lived experience together with my studies and training, I know that<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o two journeys are the same and recovery is absolutely not <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">linear<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
